Robin is a Speech/Language Pathologist with a Ph.D. She has worked with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and their families for 30+ years, in community centres, private practice and children’s hospitals in Calgary and Ottawa. Communication development is at the centre of Robin’s heart. She captures the smallest attempt from a child, whether it’s a ‘look’, ‘movement’, ‘gesture’, or ‘sound’ and helps the family learn how to build that attempt into meaningful communication and words. Robin particularly enjoys building relationships with the children and families and has seen so many children excel in their abilities.
Robin is trained as a Master Coach in the Autism Navigator® model (ESI/SCERTS) developed by Dr. Amy Wetherby and colleagues at Florida State University. She has served many families and has trained many Early Intervention Providers in Canada, United States and South Africa, over the past 5 years. In this program, Robin will be training 8 Early Intervention Providers to deliver the AN model to young children and their families in the Eastern Ontario Region.
Robin has two incredible daughters- Sarah and Maggie. Her daughters live in Vancouver and Saskatoon, currently. She loves visiting them and having them visit at home in the civic hospital neighborhood of Ottawa. In her spare time, Robin fosters kittens and cats with the Ottawa Humane Society. During the spring, summer and fall, she will have some warm cuddly and fluffy felines in her ‘foster cat’ room in the basement. She enjoys helping orphaned kittens become healthy and find their forever home.
